Mike Melillo served as a grassroots organizer at FreedomWorks for seven years before he passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 21 while on his way home from work.  To celebrate his memory, FreedomWorks has established The Mike Melillo Activist Award Fund which will recognize an outstanding activist at our yearly donor event, Restore Liberty.

Mike was extraordinarily committed to smaller government, lower taxes, free markets, personal liberty and the rule of law. He decided to work at FreedomWorks during his 80s, realizing he wanted to spend his retirement fighting to save the country he loved. Every day he could, he made phone calls, collaborated with grassroots activists, and knocked on doors for candidates he strongly respected and supported.  More importantly, he was a friend to all who had the pleasure of working with him.

His dedication to the cause was an inspiration to everyone who knew him, and this fund will help us preserve the memory of his incredible contributions to our shared cause.
