Support Governor Jindal's Education Reform Agenda

Louisiana schools are failing and it is time our elected officials stand up for the interests of our children and against the status quo.  It is time that we make education reform a reality.

Recently, Gov. Bobby Jindal announced his bold initiative to reform Louisiana education.  The Governor has made it his top priority to pass a package of aggressive reforms that will help bring more choice and parental control over the education of their children.  FreedomWorks has already been engaged in growing the grassroots support for Gov. Jindal’s plan hosting educational forums throughout the state and equipping thousands of activists with our school choice materials but that is just the beginning.

Please take a moment and let your elected official know that you stand with Gov. Jindal and that, "School Choice is the Right Choice."  It is time that your elected officials take a stand for children and enact the much needed reforms to the education system in LA.

Tell them you stand with Gov. Jindal and will do whatever it takes to see these much needed reforms passed!

Reform Package:

•    Rep. Pugh (R-Ponchatoula) has filed House Bill 292, which will place school board term limits as an option for voters on local ballots across the state in the November 2012 elections.
•    Rep. Carter (R-Baton Rouge) has filed House Bill 632, which would repeal tenure reform for all new teachers beginning July 1, 2012.

•    Rep. Carter (R-Baton Rouge) and Sen. Appel (R-Metairie) have filed House Bill 974 and Senate Bill 603 respectively, which both link teacher tenure to performance, make effectiveness the primary criterion for personnel decisions, and grant authority for hiring and placement of personnel to school superintendents.
•    Rep. Carter (R-Baton Rouge) and Sen. Appel (R-Metairie) have filed House Bill 976 and Senate Bill 597 respectively, which expand school choice, including the scholarship program, pathways for charter schools, the providers who can offer courses to K12 students, and a “parent trigger” for failing schools.

Anyone supporting these bills are fools! The true testament of a school's success is the community from which it serves and the emphasis on education by the parents. Look for successful public schools and drive to the community, you will learn the truth.
The teachers unions have ruined our education system much like everything else where they are embeded in our society. They have taken our local, county, state, and federal govts hostage with elaborate retirement packages that have bankrupted every citizen. Mediocrity has become the norm. Congratulations to the people of Louisiana and Gov Jindal.
Wish I knew more detail about. voucher system and it's intent. But all for putting the pressure on failing schools. I would not want my kids in one.
This should be passed for California too. If we send our kids to private schools to better their education we should be given tax breaks. Tuition fees should be deductible. Stand up for kids not unions.
The status quo public school system is over run with liberal minded teachers and these house bills are the correct step in combating it.
I have met the Governor several times and support his assisting children and education
