It is not the gov's money, nor the gov's kids, nor should it be their choice! Education is a family decision, and the law should reflect that!
Freedom requires effort.
The state dose not have the right to tell our kids where they can or cant go to school . It should be up to the parent . It almost sounds like our goverment wants us to fallow OBOZOs lead . And that aint going to happen as long as Im around .
School Choice is a smart thing for South Carolina and is good for education. It is working well in other states that are using it.
Let the funding follow the children including those with autism and other special needs. Special education is to be cut by 29% this coming year according to our Director of Special Needs for Marion County Schools. Don't leave our kids behind in failing schools. Let the children and the funding go to the schools who make the best use of taxpayer monies to provide the best education for our children. It's a win-win!
It is time the parents and children take back control of their choices for school attendance. There is too much money wasted on bureacracy in schools. The money should follow the student to which school they desire to attend. There are too many failing schools with students "stuck" within their walls. If there weren't problems with public schools, why would students desire to change?? So many students who graduate aren't even qualified to join the work force and business have to train them because they didn't learn in school. Please contact Senator Leatherman and ask for a "yes" vote this time because the check beside his name can be left blank, so being unchallenged doesn't mean a "yes" vote.

'yes vote.
Parents need to take responsibility for their children's education AND the Government has NO place in the shool system - Freedom works!
Please vote yes now... Have good oversight... Revolutionize education in South Carolina today before the election. Thanks!!
Senator Leatherman voted against school choice and he probably will vote no this time.I would love for my grandchildren to be able to attend Florence Christian but their parents can't afford it. Some children have to go to a failing school. Parents need to be able to choose where their children get their education. I am sure Senator Leatherman's grandchildren don't have to worry about where they go to school. Therefore it this doesn't affect him so he doesn't care. Also, I am sure he doesn't want to make waves with the school boards. I think Superintendant Zais would like to see School Choice in South Carolina.
protect our right to vote by passing school choice H 4894
This seems the only way to escape our failed system.
We need more teachers and fewer supervisors. Schools were better before the Federal Department of Education was invented to dictate to us.
Please pass this bill!
Please pass this bill! The dist 4/5 attendance line runs through my front yard. I have paid the school district $3500 every school year for the past 4 years so my child can attend an elementary school 5 minutes away instead of driving 35 minutes to the elementary school district that I am in.
I live in a county where public school is no choice at all for my three children. This seems unfair since I pay my fair share of taxes. Our children deserve better!
Greater freedom is a win win for all. It always has been.
Government managed schools does not work. It's time for parents to take back responsibility for their children's education.
Let's do what is right for the children!
50th in the nation I have heard - honestly, what do we have to lose?
Thirty five years ago I stopped teaching in SC schools, mostly rural. It was a no win system then - I have observed no improvement. Let's get this bill passed!
I am a high school teacher in support of H. 4894. Passing this bill will reduce overcrowding and reduce costs by shifting some of the students to private schools, freeing seats and lowering the teacher to student ratio. This will result in reduced costs and overall improved education for all while giving people control of their own futures by giving them a choice for the children. How can you say no? You can't.
Thank you Mr. Mulvaney; You don't know me personally but as soon as I am able I will call you we have alot of work to do. I had to remove my grandchildren from the South Carolina school system and to another state. They taught her nothing here. She is now getting the resources and help she needed all along. It's not the kids, it's the teachers and they must be tested, over and over again instead of being a teacher for a paycheck. This is the United States of America and all of our children and grandchildren deserve and need all the help they can get; not just pass a student so the school doesn't get the failing grade or some resource.
Public school is not the right choice for all students. Private school and home school parents should not have to pay for school twice.
I fought for school choice in Berkeley County in the 80's. Paid my county taxes in pennies to make a strong statement to the school board. They laughed at our 'The Parents for Choice' group , they ignored us. The school board keep making rules that the parents keep trying to fulfill , but the rules were changed every time. We bought land in the district, lived in the district ( lived in campers) . My daughter, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren lived in a camper for years to be able to have my daughter and grandson escape failing schools. My daughter went on to University of SC and graduated. After she graduated she received a letter stating that she had graduated in the top one half percent in the nation. I was so proud of her. It was all worth while, but there were some children that weren't so lucky. By the way, the choice we wanted was not with tax credits, we just wanted the choice of schools (Berkeley county is one large district and we all pay taxes).
Our children are our future. Let's allow them a better education.
If parents & kids want to allow schools to become playgrounds & all else except education, let that be their choice, but for ones who want better education, this is a step in the right direction.
Let's get it done.
Let's try to come up from 49th in the nation by signing school choice H4894. I lived in Florida for 20 year and school choice made a big differenct in the students/schools.
It's time to make our schools more accountable to the parents. We're in the 21st century now. Lets take our schools there!!!
Let's give parents the chance to control their own childrens' educational (and future) success. Stop tying parents' hands.
Another politician probably paid by Howard Rich. Wake up people! The only ones that benefit from these tax incentives are politicians. They are dirty mouthpieces for greedy folks that want to privatize education. What is wrong with you people? Private schools are not better than public schools. You believe too much hype. By the time you realize this is a scam, our kids will be going to Burger King high school, Wal-Mart elementary, and McDonald's middle school. Don't you know that when they started allowing private colleges to receive public funds (our tax dollars), tuition went up? Wake up people!!!
Our Kids need the Best Education Possible. Parents should have the choice. Not Politicians
Although not related. It should be noted that some schools districts in the US are with the use of fake terrorist drills they are taking our children off in buses, confiscating their cell phones to undisclosed locations. This has to stop and needs to be investigated ASAP.
We should get reed of the Education Administration and let the States handle that .
We need people like you involved in our state's education
Let the SC Senate kill H4894. We don't need people like you involved in our state's education.
